3 ways to remain feminine in a male-dominated workplace

Ladies! We all know that the world is becoming a better place for the working woman. But, even with the shift in the workforce, there are still industries that are incredibly male-dominated. If you are working in one of those industries, then these tips are for you. You don’t have to change to be respected. Here are a few quick tips to teach you how to be taken seriously as a fiercely feminine female:

1 – DRESS UP YOUR FIGURE, BUT DON’T OVERDO IT

Many women think wearing dresses and showing off their curves will cause unwanted male attention and thus cause a man to look down on them. Girlfriend, you are so wrong! Dress to impress, always! If men come to work wearing spiffy suits and ties, then you can waltz on in wearing a black pencil skirt and magenta pumps. That said, don’t overdo it. The goal is to look feminine and mature, not like you are walking home after a night out. As a working woman, you gain a lot of respect for your fashion choices, and you don’t need to be working with other women to have your outfits appreciated. You have power as a woman, and you don’t need to hide your figure around men to be taken seriously.

2 – MAKEUP AND HAIR ARE NOT A SIGN OF VANITY

Girl, you know you feel confident when you know you look good. Confidence is a great accessory, which pairs great with fresh hair and a red lip. Men will appreciate both the effort you put into your appearance and the confidence that comes with it. Working in a male-dominated industry can be intimidating, but with your hair and makeup done, you command the space. Nobody messes with a working woman who has blood-red lips and hair as straight as an arrow.

3 – DON’T BE AFRAID TO DECORATE YOUR SPACE TO YOUR STANDARD

Your office space (or cubicle space or table space) is YOUR space. Unless your company has strict rules against décor, girlify away! Your work space is a space for you to be creative and accomplish your goals at your current job and future jobs. Your space should reflect you! Don’t be afraid to add a fluffy pink pillow to your chair or bring in succulents for your desk (HELL-O, fresh air isn’t in an abundance in office buildings, so greenery is always welcomed). Don’t stifle your creativity and personality to “fit in” with men at work. Be you, be feminine, and be fierce!

Some final parting advice: don’t feel like you need to “man up” to fit in. Stick with your feminine guns and show those men that the real boss wears dresses, heels, and uses a pink notebook.
